2019 Honda Accord Hybrid: Electric Motors is Surprisingly Good!
The Honda Accord Hybrid’s resale value impresses, and in 2019 it was second in its class in the Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards. And I must say the Accord Hybrid handles brilliantly for a car in this class. The Atkinson-cycle 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mostly acts as a generator to feed the electric motors, although both can be engaged for up to 212 horsepower. Both the gas-only and hybrid versions drive well, and the available turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivers strong acceleration. Standard is the 1.5-liter turbo good for 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.
2019 Accord Hybrid New Design
Instead of a traditional shifter, the Honda Accord Hybrid has gear buttons at the center stack. Look no further. Honda clearly believes that sedans still have a place in the market, and the Accord Hybrid makes a compelling argument against crossovers. The 2019 Accord Hybrid delivers style and space for driver and passengers alike with an impressive amount of rear headroom and legroom. Ventilated front seats and heated rear outboard seats standard on Touring.
At the top, the Accord Hybrid model feels like a premium sedan with its ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, navigation, a head-up display, adaptive damper suspension, rain-sensing windshield wipers, wireless phone charger and mobile hotspot. A full-color 7-inch Driver Information Interface offers a customizable digital in-dash display, simplifying access to the information you need. Along with cool ambient lighting, the instrument panel is fully digital with colorful icons and customizable views of the hybrid/gas propulsion.
The 6-speed Manual Transmission
This scenario may have played out on Canada’s sales charts last year, with the Accord Hybrid being the only mid-size sedan to see growth from January 2018 through December’s end. Accord Hybrid models pretty much match their non-hybrid counterparts, with the exception being that there is no Sport trim. The 2.0-liter is paired with Honda’s 10-speed automatic, again the only exception being the Sport 2.0’s 6-speed manual gearbox. Available with both the 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbo engines, the Accord Hybrid’s 6-speed manual transmission is a rarity on a sedan of this size, but it definitely improves the fun factor. All trims with the 1.5-liter engine are mated to a CVT automatic transmission, with the exception of the Sport, which offers a 6-speed manual option.
The Lane-keeping Assist System
The lane-keeping assist system (LKAS) is wonderful, gently nudging the Accord Hybrid back into the lane if drifting out. The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System features maps with 3-D renderings and provides lane guidance and live search functionality. The Accord Hybrid’s futuristic powertrain system is matched perfectly by its interior instrumentation and center touch screen. It’s in this competitive field that the Honda Accord Hybrid finds itself. The tech-savvy 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid features an all-new full-color TFT digital driver’s meter and an 8-inch touchscreen for audio and detailed navigation and a multi-view rear camera. The Honda Accord Hybrid is a sensation we see on the road all the time.
The car boasts sterling crash-test scores, a five-star rating from the NHTSA, and standard active safety features across the range. Standard active safety features include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic high-beam headlights. The Camry Hybrid has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries.
